I have just realized that I never shared with you the thoughts and images from the Yves Saint Laurent retrospective at the Petit Palais that I went to more than six months ago. Oh, shame!!!
Thankfully, you can still read about it from the official website and see some of Saint Laurent's most iconic dresses.
What I can tell you is that I was really overwhelmed by the beauty and talent by which I was surrounded. Saint Laurent's genius was really to create timeless pieces, because I saw countless dresses from the past decades that any fashionista would still spend a fortune to buy if they were sold again in stores. I loved his dresses inspired by other continents, but most of all I loved how he often used works of arts by famous painters (Van Gogh, Matisse, Braque, Picasso, Mondrian...) as inspiration and translated them into dresses.
My best memory: There was a room full of his iconic smoking suits as well as his most beautiful evening dresses that really had me gasping.
Three last images by so chic!; all others via the Yves Saint Laurent Retrospective website linked above
