Yellow stain

These two dresses are not from the new 2012 collections. In fact, they were in Chris Benz's Resort 2011 collection. But the thing is, I still find them perfectly fabulous and regularly think about them. I love how the top one has a classic elegance but with a twist, and the addition of the yellow "stain of color" - as if the dress owner walked in yellow paint - adds some zest to the overall look. The second one, though, has more of a 60s-70s cocktail chic that I also love. Oh sweet gorgeousness...

Dreamtime

My brother has just introduced me to artist So Yoon Lym who paints braided patterns made by students and inspired by the Aboriginal stories and visions of creation. Patterns represent "valleys, mountains, forests, oceans, rivers, streams". I am really humbled by this beautiful and inspiring work, and I wish that I could visit one of the artist's exhibitions.

A few wise words ...

This week, I've been re-organizing a part of my closet and getting rid of unworn clothes. For me, this is the best thing to do in order to make room for better-fiiting clothes that really reflect who I am and look good on me. Somehow, whenever I engage in this type of activity, I always feel the need to take better care of myself (body and mind): I make some extra efforts for my health (meaning "hello again Jane Fonda workout, meditation, massages and healthier food habits") and personal grooming (skin, hair, nails, clothes, etc), and I love the enthusiastic feeling that it all gives me.

Essential fashion

Once again, Belgian brand Essentiel has created a fall/winter collection that is casually chic and feminine and uses the perfect mix of bright colors and neutrals.

Dior angel

It is difficult to find more exquisite children's clothes than in Baby Dior. But what I love as much as the clothes are the ads. This elegant picture (above) of the little girl in the ballet-inspired Dior collection for kids is simply fabulous. The luxurious Parisian setting, the colors, the refined simplicity of the clothes... Everything. I wish I had a daughter for whom I could buy this ensemble.

Rome suites

  

I have been dreaming for a while about my next trip to Rome. I hope that I will be able to spend a few days in the Portrait suites, a gorgeous boutique hotel decorated like an apartment building where you can feel at home and cook your own pasta in your apartment's mini-kitchen. And, have you seen the view? Mamma mia!

Colorful ice pops in seven minutes

 

I know what you are thinking, summer is ending and all... and here I am mentioning ice pops! But I am really loving the Zoku Quick Pop™ Maker, which freezes ice pops in seven minutes without electricity! Add to this the fact that you can personalize their designs however you want with or without the help of the "Quick pops" recipe book published by the brand. Don't tell me you're not falling for this!...

A few wise words (before the week-end)

I took this picture in Morocco three months ago as I was wandering through the streets of the medina of Rabat, the capital city. There is something so unique in Morocco: the combination of colors, tastes, smells, traditional designs and of course, the people, always expands my creativity. I'll spend my week-end drawing and painting, re-organizing my working space and planning a few creative things for this last semester of the year.

For ever

I've been wanting these two posters forever. The top one by Super Rural would be perfect in my bedroom, and the second one - created by designer Milton Glaser after the events of Sept. 11, 2001 - would be perfect on my wall close to my vintage New York pictures and illustrations. After all, we all remember that day very clearly, even though all our experiences were not the same.

Little Blue Dress and other fall basics

They say that every woman should own a little black dress, but I've always thought that I should also own a perfect little blue dress (my own version of the LBD) because that color looks so much better on me. I guess that this Marc by Marc Jacobs number (top image) is exactly what I've been looking for. The brand's fall/winter 2011 collection is full of lovely little dresses - great basics for the wardrobe! - that will be so much fun to accessoorize this coming season.
